As a small DBE/MBE firm supporting larger, prime construction engineering & inspection firms, vta, inc. is always seeking outstanding personnel in the job classifications listed below in order to propose them as team members on government agency (i.e. FDOT, county, city) road and bridge design or construction projects.   While we cannot always offer a candidate a definite position at this time, we can provide you with a letter of intent (upon a successful interview & reference check)  which will serve as a tentative offer of  employment should our firm be selected as part of the winning consultant team for a specific project.    The positions we supply have strict requirements set forth by the FDOT that must be adhered to in order to be approved for work on state and federally funded projects.  It is possible for city and county contracts to be a bit more flexible.  Contact us if you have questions about the experience or certification requirements and we can provide you with information as to how you can obtain training.


  • CEI INSPECTOR
    • High school graduate or equivalent plus  two (2) years experience in construction inspection, one (1) year of which shall have been in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection, as an inspector aide or in a QC/lab capacity plus the following CTQP certifications:
    • CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level I - to include the ACI and FDOT classes
    • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
    • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
    • CTQP Final Estimates Level I
    • Nuclear Radiation Safety
    • Intermediate MOT training
    • CTQP Pile Driving Inspection (If applicable, bridge jobs etc)
    • CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection (If applicable – required for inspection of all drilled shafts including miscellaneous structures such as Sign structures, Lighting structures, and Traffic Signal structures) 
    • The CEI Inspector is responsible for performing assignments in assisting Senior Inspector in the performance of their duties. Receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress.   Exceptions will be permitted on a case-by-case basis so long as qualifications and  certifications are appropriate for specific inspection duties.

You can have a Civil Engineering degree in lieu of the above, but must be able to earn required qualifications within one year. (Note: Engineer Intern classification requires E.I.T.  certificate.)  
 
 

  • CONTRACT SUPPORT SPECIALIST
    • A High School diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of road & bridge construction engineering inspection (CEI) experience having performed/assisted in project related duties (i.e., CQR/LIMS, progress and final estimates, EEO compliance, processing Construction Contract changes, etc.) or a Civil Engineering.   They should exercise independent judgment in planning work details and making technical decisions related to the office aspects of the project. Should be familiar with the Department’s Procedures covering theproject related duties as stated above and be proficient in the computer programs necessary to perform these duties.     They shall be proficient in Multi-Line and Engineering Menu.Qualifications:
    • CTQP Final Estimates Level I and Level II certifications - current 

 
  • ASSOCIATE CONTRACT SUPPORT SPECIALIST/PROJECT SECRETARY/RCS
    • High school graduate or  equivalent plus two to three years of secretarial and/or clerical experience including one or two years experience in construction office management having performed project related duties (i.e., EEO Compliance, Progress Meeting Agendas and Minutes, Project Correspondence, Hummingbird Filing and scanning experience, SiteManager, progress and final estimates,  processing Construction Contract changes, LIMS, etc.).   Ability to type at a rate of 35 correct, words per minute. Experienced in the use of standard word processing software - Word and Excel proficiency is a must.   Should exercise independent initiative to help relieve the supervisor of clerical detail.   Assists the Project Administrator in office related duties.


  • PUBLIC INFORMATION/INVOLVEMENT SPECIALIST
    • The Public Information/Involvement Specialists is strongly preferred to have a Bachelor’s degree in either Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field and a minimum of two (2) years professional experience dealing with both print and electronic news media in news reporting and the public. They should have experience in dealing with the media, governmental agencies, and the public on issues related to transportation and construction. Proficiency in PageMaker or other PC Desktop Publishing software, web design, newsletters and press releases is critical as well as excellent interpersonal and speaking skills.
